FIVE OUT OF FIVE POTATOES!!!

Ever have one of those days when nothing goes right?  And, the worst thing that is not going right is your marriage?

Too many of us have been there.  But, few of us have had the good fortune to have a Miss Clara (Karen Abercrombie) there when we need support, guidance and someone to listen.

This 2015 Christian drama by the Kendrick brothers is their fifth movie. I like them more and more with each film.

Elizabeth (Priscilla Shirer) is a real estate agent and meets Miss Clara when her house goes up for sale.  Of course, I personally believe it was no accident that Miss Clara came into Elizabeth’s life just when she needed a course correction.  God’s funny like that.  He has a way of putting folks together who need each other.

Elizabeth hadn’t even admitted to herself the deplorable state of her marriage, let alone what to do about it.  Miss Clara has the perfect plan.  PRAYER. When Elizabeth begins to put this plan into action, her daughter (Alena Pitts) thinks her mom has gone over to the far side.  But, Elizabeth perseveres, puts God in the center of her life and lets Him guide her husband back into safe and loving waters.

If you’ve never seen this movie—WATCH IT!!  If you have seen the movie—watch it AGAIN!!  Buy it, rent it or stream it!!!   Just get it into your home…and share it with friends; share it with family.

It’s full of gospel principles that could and should be implemented in our lives.  And, it gives you a fresh perspective on prayer.  This isn’t just prayer.  It’s Prayer!!  Miss Clara puts a little twist on it that got me thinking…hmm…I want a place like that!

I could never give The War Room anything less than FIVE POTATOES.  In fact, I might have to throw in another potato!

Potato scoring method:  When I was a little girl I LOVED MASHED POTATOES.   Mom made them all rich and lumpy with lots of cream and butter.  Sometimes the potatoes came from Grandma Lizzy’s cellar.  It smelled musty and hosted its resident black snake, but that didn’t diminish the cellar’s importance.

The lumpiness of the potatoes—made possible from a hand potato masher–only added to the glorious mystique that accompanied the warm fuzzy feeling I got upon consuming.  To me the lumps equaled little islands of satisfaction amidst a sea of potato goodness.  Complete contentment.

So, intelligence reasons that FIVE POTATOES would represent near perfection.  Or close.
